4 Year Old Preschool 2018-2019
December 10, 2018
Hello Preschool Families,
Welcome to the second week of Advent.
Please see below for all the information on next two busy weeks before we break for Christmas. There is new information regarding our classroom Christmas celebration on Thursday December 20, 2018 and the classroom book exchange.
Christmas Concert Information:
The concert is December 13, 2018 at 6:30 pm in the church. Your child will need to arrive at school at 6:00 pm that evening. We will need time to get them lined up and ready for the concert. Our class will be singing along with the young fives class and the kindergarten class. You will need to pick up your child at the intermission of the concert. You can choose to pick your child up and go home or pick up your child and return to the church for the remainder of the show. All of the 4 year old preschool students must be picked up at the intermission of the show. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
Class Christmas Celebration:
We will be having a Christmas Celebration in our classroom on Thursday December 20, 2018. Parents please arrive at 10:00 am. We will have a short Christmas presentation, our book exchange and a Christmas feast. Our celebration will conclude at 11:00 am. If your child is an all day student, we will continue with our afternoon program the rest of the day. If your child is a 1/2 day student, they will leave at the normal 11:00 am dismissal. Please sign up to bring something to our celebration. I have created a sign up genius for our celebration and have sent out the email invites. Please bring your item(s) to school at drop off in the morning. Miss. Clarke will be at the court yard doors with a cart to drop off your items. If you and your child are planning on bringing in "goody bags" for their friends, please remember that these items need to be take home items. The students will be making Christmas bags for these items. Remember that there are 17 students in our class. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Christmas Classroom Book Exchange:
We will have a book exchange in our classroom during our Christmas celebration. Please send in a wrapped book (around $5) for the book exchange. Please write on the outside " To: My Friend, From: (your child's name). We will play a "Hot Potato" type game to pass out books to the students. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
***Please Remember - our class start time is 8:00 am, we have had several students arriving well after 8:00 am. Everyday our class has a special class (music, library, computers, gym), M- Th at 8:30 am and Friday we leave for Mass at 8:20 am . (Art is 9:35 am on Fridays due to Mass time) Having the students arrive to class on time ensures that everyone has a chance to use the bathroom, take care of their belongings and have some social time with their classmates before we leave for our specials/Mass.****
I have updated the information below, please take a moment to review the entire newsletter..
Secret Message: Please remember to let your children know the secret message from the classroom web page or from the paper newsletter. They are so excited to tell Ms. Clarke or I the secret message!!
Colder Weather Information: Our Outside Day Will Be Wednesdays.
We have decided to make out outside day Wednesdays. We will try to get outside every Wednesday for about 20 minutes, until the end of the school year. Since the cold weather is upon us, please send your child to school on Wednesdays with full cold weather gear; Snowsuit/Snow pants, heavy jacket/coat, winter boots, mittens/gloves, hat, scarf. etc. Please label all items with your child's name. If you would like to keep a set of cold weather gear at school, place all items in a large bag with your child's name on it and we will keep it on the shelf above their hook in the hallway. We will plan on going outside in all weather conditions except rain. If the wind chill is to low we will still get ready (practicing getting all our gear on) take a short walk, and then come back inside.
December Family Project: Our December Family Project will be a Family Christmas Traditions Christmas Stocking. The information has gone home regarding this project. Please spend some time with you child to discuss your family traditions and then decorate your stocking. Please return these completed stockings by December 18, 2018.
Snack Calendar: Please remember to send in enough snack for 15 students. We currently have 17 students in our class, however, two of our students have special dietary needs and will only be eating snacks that come from home. Healthy snacks are the best, some great choices are gold fish, pretzels, veggie/dip, fruit (please prepare fruit, peel/cut up), graham crackers, cheese/crackers, etc. Drinks are optional, we always have water.
